Dear Church Family & Friends,

The last few days have been a whirlwind of shock, concern, and activity surrounding Ginny in the hospital and her diagnosis of having Multiple Myeloma. We are so grateful for God’s general grace in giving us such a fine hospital with great doctors, nurses & medicines helping us fight for Ginny. The enemy has been identified, thoroughly spied out, and visited. It is an ugly enemy. But today we are prepared to fight back vigorously. Ginny has made great progress in gaining back some of her strength. She will, Lord willing, be coming home Thursday. That will lift all our spirits. A protocol has begun and still being planned to attack the cancer. We have been referred to Cedars Sinai for further consultation and possible treatment.

We are learning what Christ meant about taking one day at a time, as well as the sufficiency of his sustaining grace. We are also delighting in our family who is making us feel very special, and we are so grateful for our church family who is covering us in prayer. Thanks for all the flowers, cards, and email. Our pastoral and office staff, along with our church leadership, is terrific! We believe the church is in great hands.

Our faith, though shaky at times, is absolutely confident in God’s sovereign grace. How else can we face the hardships and trials of life with comfort and hope? As more information comes….and it will very shortly…I will attempt to let you know.

Please continue to pray for us. It is God’s ordained means of accomplishing what He ordained for us. Thanks for joining us in this battle. We are not battling God’s will but battling the curse. We are clinging to Christ and His Word which promises, “But thanks be to God who always leads us in His triumph in Christ…” (2 Corinthians 5:14).

As you pray for us we will be praying for you. Our crisis has helped us feel our partnership with so many who struggle day in and day out for answers to their prayers. We are so grateful for God’s grace that surrounds us.

Cling to Christ by faith,

Pastor Don

  1. Don,

Darrin and I love you both so much and hurt with you for the emotional pain this diagnosis must be causing. We pray for God’s strength to sustain you, and His wisdom to guide you through the days ahead. Practically, if we can buy you some meals or fill up your tank, we have some cash available for that.
When you can’t see beyond the next hour and are taking life moment by moment, sometimes you forget about the basic needs. Do call us for help: 458-0890. It is our turn to take care of you as you have been so faithful to take care of us with your leadership and teaching. We do love you both and are continually communing with God on your behalf.

Donnie and I love you both so much. You are like family to us.
We join you in prayer and claim the faithfulness of Christ our Lord. At the National Day Prayer Breakfast you were at the top of our list. You are so covered in prayer and we want to be there for your entire family as you have been there for us all these years.

  10. Don & Ginny,

I am just returning from Israel and finding this sad news. It seems the enemy has heightened his attack all around us.

But I force myself again to remember that God is still in control. I will join the many who love you in praying for Ginny, yourself and your family. We are promised that Christ hears and cares. The expression, “If He brings you to it, He will bring you through it” is what I have been clinging to lately.

I thank God that Christ is bigger than all of this, and His children are in His loving care in ways only He understands.

We all hurt for you, but will, at the same time, try to be strong for you. Many are waiting and available to help. Let your church family know what to do.

I will pray and hold to the promise for you, “For God is not unjust to forget your work and labor of love which you have shown toward His name, in that you have ministered to the saints, and do minister.”

  15. Dear Don and Ginny,
My first comment was “oh no!” when I heard of your illness, Ginny. I know you both are so strong in your faith and love for the Lord, but that does not take away any of the numbness, uncertainty and shock that comes with diagnosis. I know the “battle” has begun, but the prayers of your friends, family, church family and even strangers WILL sustain you. We will pray for wisdom for the doctors for the correct treatment and for strength for your body to fight back and those “ugly cells” to die. I, Lynn, will commit to pray for you daily, Ginny.
    Much love,
    Tim and Lynn

  16. Dear Don & Ginny,
We love you and are covering you both in prayer. After reading your update, we know that you are taking your strength from the grace of God that is ours in Christ Jesus. We are trusting Him to lead you in the swift and right path for treatment, and to give you a peace in knowing that nothing comes to us devoid of His divine purpose. “It is the Lord who goes before you. He will be with you; he will not leave you or forsake you. Do not fear or be dismayed” (Deuteronomy 31:8). If there is anything at all that we can do for you, please know we are here and would cherish the opportunity to serve you. Tony and Peggy

  17. Dear Don & Ginny,

After hearing the news, I immediately starting praying for you. My heart is saddened that you have to go through this- I know what it is like. I know how much of a blur that first week is. All of the unanswered questions, uncertainty, and showers of love and hope. Our hope, our Savior Jesus Christ, is what got me & my family through the toughest of days, as I am sure it will for you as well. We will continue to pray for strength, clarity and encouragement. Know that God will use this greatly in the lives of those around you- a blessing in disguise. May you feel peace even through the storm.

Please, if there is ever anything we can do, please let us know. We will continue to fervently pray.

    Love Courtney

  21. PD and Ginny
When I heard the news about Ginny, it was like someone punched me in the stomach. I have been through this with my mom. I am so sorry and I know the long road that you have ahead of you. My prayers are with you and your family. If there is anything that I can do to help, the littlest thing sometimes seems like a mountain, please give me a call.
You have been such a support to me and have helped me through some very dark days, now it is my turn to help you. I love you both so much.

We are deeply saddened by the results of your tests. But we will continue to pray that God will work His perfect will through this difficult time.

You both have been such an encouragement to us. Please know that you are in our prayers daily for physical healing, courage, peace, and rest. Let us know if you need anything at all.

  23. Don, Ginny and Family, I know this is a shock to you. My thoughts and prayers are with you all as I am sure everyone you know and have touched feels the same. I’m reminded of that saying, I think this is it: God never gives us more than we can handle, I just wish he didn’t trust me so much. Something like that. I know Cedars Sinai is excellent as is City of Hope. God bless and strengthen you all. Love, Duana Miller

  24. Dear Don & Ginny
You both must know how loved & cherished you are by so many people. If there is ANYTHING that we can do to help in any way from a to z, please let us know or the person you would have in charge of help. It has to be overwhelming to the point of numbing you both. You are both in our prayers and thoughts throughout the day as is your family. I know we sent a message before but we just had to let you know again.

  25. Dear Ginny and Don,

You do not know me, but I know and love your Sister-in-Christ, Edie Loar, who also suffers with the dreaded Multiple Myeloma.
Know that Edie has been praying fervently for Ginny. Along with Edie, Ginny will also be lifted in my prayers.

  26. Dearest Ginny and Pastor Don,
You’ve both been very much on my mind for the last few days…I’m so glad this website was set up so that we can be kept in touch. I loved Clint’s remark this morning that this is an opportunity for the congregation to serve you after all these years of your service to them. So now the task has begun for all of us…to pray, to believe, to worship despite circumstances, to grieve with you, to hope with you, to serve you wherever possible. And “may the God of hope fill you with all peace in believing, so that by the power of the Holy Spirit you may abound in hope”. Romans 15:13 Susan

  27. Dear Ginny & Don,

Dick and I want you to know that our hearts go out to you and that we are praying for you daily. The Lord will not only be with you every step of the way, but He will go before you, and He will answer prayers before they are even uttered. If there is anything we can do to help, please let us know. It would be a privilege to serve you as you have ministered to our family in so many ways over the years. We love you!

I just heard the news from my mom. Having had the same illness touch my family, I can imagine the shock and pain you must be feeling. It brought back a flood of emotions just seeing that word (mm) in print. You are very special people and have been a source of great comfort and support to my family. Please reach out to those who want to comfort and support you in return whenever you need it. You and your family are in our thoughts and prayers.

  30. As Paul inspires us in Romans 28 in these very circumstances, May his confidence comfort you.

35 Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? Shall tribulation, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or danger, or sword? 36 As it is written,

    “For your sake we are being killed all the day long;
we are regarded as sheep to be slaughtered.”

37 No, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him who loved us. 38 For I am sure that neither death nor life, nor angels nor rulers, nor things present nor things to come, nor powers, 39 nor height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God in Christ Jesus our Lord.

John and I are praying for you both.
